You will learn a unique mediation model that helps your clients stabilize a crisis and move towards agreement and reconciliation. IA uses a very ‘purist’ style of mediation and has used a ‘transformative mediation model’ since long before there was a name for it, which seeks to resolve the issue at hand while focusing on preserving the relationship at whatever level the parties desire, or dissolving amicably. The benefit of this style of mediation is that it 1) invites all grievances to be brought to the light, 2) allows people opportunity to be heard, 3) enables forgiveness, 4) lets the parties create their own solutions, and 5) encourages them to agree on specific resolutions that are kept in confidence by the parties and mediators. The goal is restoration.
